2 EASY Tips for Supporting Your Body's Harmony & Balance

THE HUMAN BODY REQUIRES balance + harmony to function effectively.

This healthy mid-point is called homeostasis. It is not a fixed state: There is constant ebb + flow. For example, blood sugar levels rise + fall throughout the day. As long as those spikes are within the normal range (neither too high nor too low), the human body functions properly. However, if those levels are above/below the acceptable range or become chronically elevated health issues may arise. Low blood sugar, for example, may cause fatigue, lightheadedness, and low metabolism.

The two main systems that bring the body back to the healthy mid-point are the nervous + endocrine system. Both systems, however, are also negatively impacted by our modern life, which may limit their ability to restore homeostatic imbalances. The endocrine system is affected by (potentially) fatal convenience products, such as conventional cleaning and beauty products which contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals. The nervous system is chronically busy in our always-on, high-speed, productivity-obsessed culture.

Give your endocrine + nervous system some extra love: become clean-curious, adopt adaptogens

Here's how you can support both systems. My two tips are super simple but effective!

Make some better choices for the endocrine system. Become clean-curious and eliminate bad influences by switching from conventional to clean (i.e., non-toxic) beauty, personal care, and household essentials. Here are some great options in the clean space that will help you to ease the toxic load of endocrine-disrupting chemicals. For the body: Necessaire. For the face: True Botanicals + Beauty Counter. For the household: Seventh Generation. For the home: Natura Soy Candles.

Unstress your nervous system with adaptogens. Adaptogens are herbal "smartfoods" that actively help the body adapt to stressors and cause responses that restore homeostasis. The use of adaptogenic herbs, such as reishi, rhodiola and cordyceps, is also stress-free. They can be easily blended into nut milks, coffee, or smoothies.
